Lizzie Karr
Austin based songwriter Lizzie Karr creates soulful, image-driven songs spanning rock, electro, pop, and the latest - an intimate, synth-heavy album which will be released in 2020. She has had a colorful trajectory - winding her way from her hometown in New Jersey to New York City, Portland, San Francisco, and Oakland, and picked up more than a few stories and collaborators along the way. Her fans know her as a veritable fountain of creativity, and gutsy to boot.
Lizzie started professionally as a dancer and directed her company LizZieMoVeS from 2007-2011. She toured the company in the Northwest, California, and New York, and when the impulse to create music for company productions surpassed her interest in choreographing new work, she turned her focus fully to music and started recording albums. Lizzie's debut album Bones was released in 2012, followed by Like It's Bad in 2016. In 2015, she took a six month gig in China with a seven-piece pop band, mostly to combat the stage fright she'd overcome in dance, but persisted when performing music (she got over it).
In 2017, Lizzie moved to Austin and performed a run of shows with the Meteor Shower band, then went into hibernation again to create new recordings. November 8 marks her comeback show and the release of the first single from the new album, In Real Life, which will be released in full in 2020. Other collaborative projects include Spin Lizzie (duo with Oakland based hip hop extraordinaire DJ Zeph) and Majority V (girl pop band with Iggy T and Alexa Jaye). Lots of new music coming soon!
